TLU Shuts Out UMHB 2-0, Moves to 3-0 for First Time since 2015

BELTON, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's soccer captured its third straight win of the 2023 season on Friday, taking down the 2022 American Southwest Conference (ASC) champions, Mary Hardin-Baylor, 2-0.  With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the year - reaching the mark for the first time since 2015.

Texas Lutheran - known for its patented stifling defense - took the pressure to UMHB early, taking 10 shots in the first half. The search for the first goal went just over 37 minutes before senior Caleb McCausland (Schertz/Clemens) provided the breakthrough goal - the first of the season and of his career to put TLU in the proverbial driver's seat.

In the second half, Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) linked up with Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) to provide an insurance goal, putting Texas Lutheran up 2-0 in the 59th minute.

Goalkeeper Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) would play the full 90 minutes in-goal for the Bulldogs - earning a clean sheet with five saves on the night.

Texas Lutheran returns to action Sunday night as they continue their season opening seven game road trip with a matchup against Concordia (TX) in Round Rock. First kick is scheduled for 7 PM at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
