Manke Named SCAC's Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Following their 2-0 opening weekend, junior defender Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Manke, a Houston native, picked up his first SCAC weekly honor helping a backline that didn't allow a single goal in the run of play and only allowed one goal all weekend (via penalty kick) as the Bulldogs are 2-0 to start a season for the first time since 2015. The Bulldogs shutout Occidental, 1-0, last Friday and then knocked off Cal Lutheran, 2-1, on Sunday. Manke and the Bulldogs limited opponents to just 12 shots all weekend, with just five of those shots being on target.

This is the first SCAC Weekly honor in Manke's career.

The Bulldogs will return to the Lone Star State to continue their season opening seven-game road trip as they take on the 2022 American Southwest Conference Champions, the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 PM in Belton. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
