Men's Soccer Opens with 1-0 Shut Out Victory

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Sophomore Miguel Solis (Edinburg/Edinburg) scored a second half goal to spark the Texas Lutheran men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Occidental College on the opening day of the 2023 season Friday night in Los Angeles in a first-time matchup between the two programs.

After the first half ended in a scoreless stalemate, Solis broke the deadlock with a 65th-minute goal via an assist from Preston Huff (Cypress/Cy-Fair).

Texas Lutheran out shot the Tigers 11-7 on the night.

Senior goalkeeper Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) earned his first shutout and win of the season.

Texas Lutheran will conclude its west coast road trip on Sunday, September 3, against Cal Lutheran at William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks, California at 1 PM CST/11 AM PDT. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
