Luis Green Named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week For 8th Time in Career

SEGUIN, Texas -- After a record setting weekend that saw him finish with two goals and three assists, Texas Lutheran men's soccer forward Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) has earned the nod as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The recognition marks the eighth SCAC Offensive Player of the Week honor in Green's career.

Green made history last weekend, becoming the SCAC's all-time leader in goals scored with his brace in the Bulldog's 5-0 win over Centenary last Friday night. In the 86th minute, Green put away his second goal of the match and took sole possession of first all-time with 74 career goals, passing Oglethorpe's Will Lukow. Lukow, who held the record since 1994, scored 73 goals in 73 career games, while Green scored his record-breaking marker in his 73rd career fixture. With his 74th goal, Green surpassed Oglethorpe's Will Lukow on the SCAC list and Green also climbed into the top 20 in NCAA Division-III history - tying Steve Spirk of Wilmington (OH) for 18th all-time. Green, who raised his career point total to 167 points, now needs two points to surpass Lukow (167 points) and Trinity's Josh Card (168 points) for the SCAC all-time career points record. Green currently leads the SCAC in goals (12) and points (28) for the 2022 season.Green finished the weekend with two goals and three assists for a total of seven points to help the Bulldogs post a 1-0-1 record. 

A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Green has scored a conference-leading 12 goals to start the season - ranking eighth in all of Division-III. Green ranks seventh nationally with 29 total points on the season.

Texas Lutheran will be off until next Sunday, Oct. 16, when they welcome the Colorado College Tigers to Gustafson Field for their final home match of the 2022 regular season. The match will also serve as Senior Day as the Bulldogs honor their senior class for their contributions to the TLU Soccer program.
