Four Bulldogs on All-SCAC Men's Basketball Award Teams

SEGUIN, Texas -- A total of four Texas Lutheran players earned spots on the 2022-23 All-SCAC Men's Basketball Award teams, the league announced Saturday night.

Junior guard Xavier Phillips (Austin/Dripping Springs) earned All-SCAC Second Team honors. Senior forward Mason Green (San Marcos/San Marcos) and sophomore guard Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor) were selected All-SCAC Honorable Mention while Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) garnered All-Freshman Team accolades.

Phillips played in 23 games (22 starts) this season - leading the team in scoring (13.4 ppg) and ranking second in steals (33) and third in rebounds (4.0 rpg). Phillips shot 39.4-percent from the field (99-252) and 73.8-percent from the free throw line (79-107). Phillips reached double figures in scoring 18 times throughout the 2022-23 season.

Green played in 22 games (20 starts) and led the team in rebounds, averaging 6.6 rebounds per game to finish fifth in the SCAC, minutes (27.8 mpg), and blocks (1.0), and ranked third in scoring (10.3 ppg).

Orozco played in all 25 games with 21 starts and led the SCAC in assists (3.3 apg), led the Bulldogs in minutes (27.8 mpg), and steals (43). He registered a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (82 assists, 48 turnovers) finishing fourth in the SCAC in the category.

Wallace played in all 25 games (five starts) and ranks second on the team in blocks (0.4), third in minutes (26.8 mpg), fourth in scoring (8.6 ppg) and rebounds (3.1 rpg). Wallace reached double figures eight times as a freshman including a career-high 24 points against Centenary.

The official All-SCAC awards are selected by the league's head coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players. The All-SCAC teams can be viewed in full here.
