Bulldogs Fall to Dallas, 72-61

SEGUIN, Texas -- Isaac Orozco (Helotes/O'Connor) matched his career-high of 15 points, dished out a team-high five assists, and tallied a game-high four steals but Texas Lutheran suffered a 72-61 defeat at Memorial Gymnasium to University of Dallas on Friday night.

With four steals, Orozco now averages 2.1 steals per game, to place third in the SCAC. Orozco also currently sits second in the SCAC in assists, averaging 3.4 per game. Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) and Xavier Phillips (Austin/Dripping Springs) joined Orozco in double-figures with 13 and 12 points respectively.

The Bulldogs moved to 10-8, 5-4 SCAC while the Crusaders improved to 7-10, 1-7 in the SCAC.

Texas Lutheran struggled to make shots, hitting only 8 of 28 three-pointers while shooting 33.8 percent overall, denying the Bulldogs a third consecutive win over Dallas.

Dallas led for all but three minutes of Friday night's contest. The two teams would play a tightly contested first half with the Crusaders taking a 35-26 lead into the break.

Hot shooting from the Crusaders, led by 27 points from 6'7" forward Letrell Touissant, would doom the Bulldogs. The Crusaders shot 54.5% in the second half, including 12-of-16 from the free throw line to keep the Bulldogs at bay and limit a Bulldogs comeback. Texas Lutheran would come as close as 56-54 with 8:19 remaining but were never able to reclaim the lead.
