Football's Hardy Named ASC Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran football's sophomore safety Mason Hardy (Flynn/Normangee) has been named the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. It marks the first conference honor of Hardy's career.

A Flynn, Texas native, Hardy recorded two interceptions in Saturday's victory over McMurry University at Wilford Moore Stadium in Abilene, Texas. Hardy currently leads the America Southwest Conference with four interceptions on the season. He added six tackles (five solo) in the 17-10 win over the War Hawks.

Hardy was part of a Texas Lutheran defense that forced three McMurry turnovers. Hardy made two crucial interceptions in the fourth quarter - one at the TLU five-yard line with 8:51 remaining to keep the War Hawks out of the end zone and recorded his second two drives later with 4:12 remaining in the game.

Texas Lutheran returns to Bulldog Stadium as they welcome the East Texas Baptist University Tigers to Seguin on Saturday, Oct. 29. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
