TLU A&T Falls to East Texas Baptist on the Road
MARSHALL, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Acrobatics and Tumbling continued the 2023 season with a mid-week rematch with the East Texas Baptist Tigers on the road at Ornelas Gymnasium. The Bulldogs would drop the meet to the Tigers with the Bulldogs (0-5) earning a total score of 112.375, a new program-high, and the Tigers (2-2) earning a total score of 245.425.
Texas Lutheran scored a new program-high 20.40 in the compulsory, including a 3.55 in acro, 7.70 in pyramid, 7.15 in toss, and 2.00 in tumbling out of the highest possible value of 10. ETBU outscored the Bulldogs in the compulsory, earning a 35.15 total score.
After the acro event, TLU continued to trail the Tigers with Texas Lutheran earning a total score of 12.80 consisting of a 3.85 in the fifth element, 6.35 in the sixth element, and 2.60 in the seventh element.
East Texas Baptist would narrowly out score the Bulldogs in the pyramid event, 27.20 to 23.25.
Leading into the half, TLU trailed ETBU 86.80 - 56.45.
The Tigers took the toss event, with event scores being 26.35 - 19.65. Texas Lutheran earned an 8.25 in salto, 5.50 in synchronized, and 5.90 in open.
ETBU also took the tumbling event, outscoring TLU 43.875 to 36.275. Phoenix Cosley (Round Rock/Hendrickson) would lead the Bulldogs through the tumbling event with career-highs in Heat 5 (6 Element Pass) and Heat 6 (Open Pass) with scores of 8.275 and 8.450 respectively.
