Women's Volleyball dominant in victories to start 2019 campaign

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Volleyball posted a pair of impressive three-set victories Friday at the Bulldog Challenge.
 
TLU defeated non-conference foes Howard Payne and Louisiana College.
 
The Bulldogs took care of Howard Payne 25-8, 25-12, and 25-11 in TLU's Tostengard Activity Center (Susan Duke Court) and then dispatched Louisiana College 25-10, 25-18, 25-10 in Memorial Gymnasium (Jim Shuler Court).
 
In the win over HPU, right-side hitter Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) collected a team-high 10 kills on 13 total attempts. She did not make a hitting error and hit .769 for the match.
 
Outside hitter Katelyn Sexton (Palacios/Palacios) added seven kills and a .400 hitting percentage, and middle blocker Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) hit .500 with five kills on eight attempts with one error.
 
TLU as a team hit .326 against HPU. 
 
Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) contributed 13 digs and served three aces. Fellow freshman Adrienne Galaviz dished out 15 assists.
 
In the win over LC, senior outside hitter Bryten Mitchan (San Antonio/Highlands) hit .846 with 11 kills and no errors on 13 attempts.
 
The Bulldogs also hit .326 against the Wildcats.
 
Savhannah Kitchens (Inez/Industrial) picked up seven kills, and Morris served five more aces and added 13 digs.
 
Galaviz recorded 16 assists, and senior Jaci Chambers (Baytown/Goose Creek Memorial) had 12 assists.
 
TLU finishes up play in the Bulldog Challenge on Saturday with a 10 a.m. match against Sul Ross State in Tostengard and a 2:15 p.m. match against McMurry in Memorial.
