Morris 'golden goal' in first overtime sends Bulldogs past Huston-Tillotson 2-1

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs moved to 3-1-1 overall with an overtime win Sunday afternoon against Huston-Tillotson University.

At TLU's Gustafson Field, junior forward Raquel Morris (San Antonio/Johnson) scored just three minutes and one second into the first overtime to send the Bulldogs to the non-conference victory.

Samantha Martinez, a sophomore from Schertz (Clemens), assist on the game-winner.

Huston-Tillotson dropped to 2-1-1 with the loss.

Morris scored on her fifth shot of the match. She put three shots on goal.

The goal was Morris' second goal of the season and her second game-winner.

The Bulldogs got on the board first with a goal in the 29th minute from freshman Jessica Acosta (Austin/Crockett) off an assist from senior Mariela Candelario (San Antonio/Brandeis).

The Rams forced overtime with just nine seconds remaining in regulation with a lofted shot from Maria Cantu.

HTU held a slight edge in total shots, 18-15, and in shots on goal, 9-6.

Madison Stout made four saves in goal for TLU.

The Bulldogs next play a non-conference match at Trinity University on Friday. Match time in San Antonio is set for 4 p.m.
