Summer Swift captures individual championship at McMurry Rockwind Links Intercollegiate

HOBBS, N.M. -- Texas Lutheran senior Summer Swift (Fentress/San Marcos) captured the individual championship Monday at the 2019 McMurry Rockwind Links Intercollegiate.

Swift won medalist honors with a two-day total of 148. She shot a first-round 76 and trailed by six shots entering the final round.

On Monday, Swift fired an even-par 72 and won the tournament by five shots over Madison Goldberg of McMurry University.

For Swift, the tournament title was the third individual championship of her collegiate career. She won the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, the 2019 Centenary College Hal Sutton Invite in the spring, and now the Rockwind Links title.

Swift tied for the TLU Lady Bulldog Fall Classic title at the end of regulation last Tuesday and was declared the runner-up after a scorecard playoff.

TLU finished in a tie for sixth in the team standings. The Bulldogs shot a 360 on Sunday and a 359 on Monday. Kaley Martin tied for 21st, and Samantha De La Rosa and Bernadette Barringer finished in 45th and 47th.

Southwestern won the team championship. The Pirates were followed by Hardin-Simmons, Mary Hardin-Baylor, East Texas Baptist, McMurry, TLU and Schreiner, Howard Payne, and University of Dallas.
