TLU collects 78-64 home win over Centenary (La.)

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs grabbed a 78-64 home conference win Saturday against Centenary and improved to 8-13 overall and 6-8 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
In TLU's Memorial Gymnasium, TLU out-scored Centenary by 18 over the second and third quarters and led by as many as 26 in the fourth.
 
Centenary dropped to 1-21 overall and to 1-14 in conference play.
 
The Bulldogs dished out 21 assists on 27 made basketball and turned the ball over just seven times.
 
TLU point guard Tara Molina registered eight assists and scored 12 points. Nine different Bulldogs had at least one assist.
 
The Bulldogs shot 42.9 percent from the field for the game and held Centenary to 26.7 percent shooting in the second quarter and to 23.1 percent in the third.
 
Cami Davis also scored 12, and Abby Hroch and Morgan Rodriguez contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Hroch pulled down 10 rebounds, and Kasey Hairell collected seven rebounds to go with her eight points.
 
Destini Powell scored 26 for the Ladies, and Deunya Small added 14 points and six rebounds.

TLU heads back onto the road for its next two contests. The Bulldogs play University of Dallas at 7:30 on Friday and face Austin College at 6 p.m. next Saturday.
