TLU Cross Country squads take 5th-place finishes at OLLU


SAN ANTONIO – Texas Lutheran Men's and Women's Cross Country teams registered fifth-place finishes Saturday at the Our Lady of the Lake Collegiate Invitational.
 
Running in the rain and the mud at Windcrest Golf Club, the Bulldog Men placed fifth behind Texas A&M International (44), Our Lady of the Lake (50), St. Edward's (65), and St. Thomas (96).
 
The TLU Men scored a 165 and placed ahead of Austin College (172), University of the Southwest (N.M.) (202), University of Dallas (218), Texas College (227), Schreiner (258), Sul Ross State (293), and Jarvis Christian (295).
 
The TLU Women put up a score of 146 and finished behind Texas A&M International (33), St. Edward's (40), Our Lady of the Lake (102), and Texas Wesleyan (112).
 
The Bulldogs finished ahead of St. Thomas (154), University of the Southwest (169), University of Dallas (184), Texas College (254), Schreiner (280), Jarvis Christian (301), and Sul Ross State (328),
 
Caleb Calderon led the TLU Men with a finish of 10th and a time of 27 minutes, 34.7 seconds on the 8-kilometer course.
 
Hector Hornedo came in 40th with a time of 30:09.1, and Cassius Serff-Roberts produced a finish of 43rd with a time of 30:17.4.
 
Corey Rudacille and Mark Mainez rounded out the Bulldogs' top five with placements of 51st and 72nd, respectively. Rudacille crossed the line in 31:04.7, and Mainez finished in 35;14.0.
 
Ashley Rynard led the TLU Women with a finish of 18th and a 5K time of 21:05.8. Hannah Martinez also scored a top-20 finish. She came in 20th with a time of 21:20.1.
 
Ciara Rodriguez (36th, 22:32.4), Brooke Kloesel (23:23.7), and Emma Morgan (23:57.1) rounded out the Bulldogs' top five.
 
Both Bulldog squads race next Saturday morning at the Concordia Texas Invitational, to be held at Walter E. Long Park in Austin.
