Texas Lutheran Men's Tennis falls at ORTC 6-3 to McMurry University

SEGUIN, Texas -- McMurry University Tennis posted two road wins Friday afternoon against Texas Lutheran at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center. The McMurry Men won 6-3, and the McMurry Women won 8-1.
 
The McMurry Men improved to 1-4 on the season. The TLU Men dropped to 2-4.
 
The McMurry Women moved to 3-1 overall, and the TLU Women fell to 4-2.
 
On the men's side, Joshua Bowman recorded a pair of victories for the Bulldogs. The sophomore from San Antonio teamed with Dylan Layne for an 8-7 victory at No. 2 doubles. Bowman and Layne won the tiebreaker 7-1.
 
At No. 3 singles, Bowman fought off a couple of match points in the third-set, 10-point tiebreaker and recovered from a hard fall in the middle of the tiebreaker. Bowman trailed 9-7 in the tiebreaker, but he won the next four points to win 11-9.
 
Bowman won 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9) against McMurry's Zach Miller.
 
TLU's third point of the men's team match came at No. 6 singles with Dristan Weaver winning in a third-set, 10-point tiebreaker. Weaver took the 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) victory over Trey Fambrough.
 
In the women's match, TLU's lone victory came at No. 3 doubles with Bailey Denton and Liz Perkins collecting an 8-4 victory.
 
Denton nearly pulled off a second win. She fell at No. 5 singles, 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5), to Mandy Roberson.

The next matches for TLU are scheduled for next Friday at the Austin Tennis Center against Concordia Texas. Match time is set for 10 a.m. in Austin.
