TLU Men's/Women's Tennis squads open fall schedules with St. Mary's Quads

Women's Results - Men's Results

SAN ANTONIO -- Texas Lutheran Men's and Women's Tennis started its 2019 fall season with matches Friday and Saturday at the St. Mary's University Men's and Women Quad tournaments.

The Quads featured singles players and doubles teams from TLU, Our Lady of the Lake, Trinity, and host St. Mary's on the men's side and TLU, Texas A&M-Kingsville, University of the Incarnate Word, and St. Mary's on the women's side.

The tournament provided the Bulldogs with their first matches under new head coach John Strahl.

Facing a nationally-ranked NCAA Division III opponent in Trinity and four other scholarship programs (UIW, OLLU, TAMUK, and St. Mary's), the Bulldogs were up against some of the top collegiate tennis players in the area.

"We were excited to be a part of the competition, which included Division I University of the Incarnate Word, Division II Texas A&M-Kingsville, Division II StMary's and Division III Trinity," said Strahl. "The competition was keen. We went in with the objective of playing hard, play your guts out, and let the chips fly. And we accomplished just that."

"We wanted to be first class in all that we did between the lines. We wanted to establish a good hard-nosed winning attitude. We feel that we fulfilled just that."
