TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center to be dedicated Saturday afternoon

SEGUIN, Texas – The dedication and grand opening of Texas Lutheran University's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on the TLU campus.

The dedication ceremony will be held at the tennis center, weather permitting. If inclement weather prevents an outdoor ceremony, the dedication will be moved indoors to TLU's Memorial Gymnasium.

With generous gifts from Herman Ohlenbusch '53 and the Marvin Rinn '53 Family, the facilities for TLU Men's and Women's Tennis have been enhanced.

With gifts of $100,000 each from Ohlenbusch and from the Rinn Family, the renovations and improvements make the TLU tennis venue one of the top NCAA Division III facilities in Texas.

Upgrades to the tennis facility have included an eight-court LED electronic scoreboard, court resurfacing, lights on the north bank of courts, curbing around the outside of the courts, new windscreens with a logo on the south bank of courts, and court dividers on all eight courts.

In addition to the completed upgrades, coming improvements include: a two-story storage facility/clubhouse, new spectator seating, on-court and off-court shade systems, new fencing and netting, training and facility maintenance equipment, a new racquet stringing machine, updated on-court logos, and a speaker system.

"We are so very grateful for Mr. Ohlenbusch and the Rinn Family for their gifts and leadership in this project," said Michael Hunt, TLU's head coach for men's and women's tennis. "Mr. Ohlenbusch and Mr. Rinn's family are teaming up to help make TLU Tennis a competitive force with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III Tennis. Thanks to their generosity, we've received nearly 70 additional gifts toward our total goal of 100."

The facility improvements will be a boost to the Bulldogs' recruitment of tennis student-athletes.

"We've been at a facility disadvantage with our SCAC opponents for a number of years now," Hunt said. "But with these facility enhancements, we believe that we will be able to attract more tennis recruits. It's not overstating it to say that the Ohlenbusch-Rinn gifts are 'program-changing' for TLU Tennis. We will always be indebted to these two families."

While the gifts from Ohlenbusch and the Rinn Family have made a monumental impact on TLU's tennis facility, additional funding is needed to complete all renovations and improvements. Please consider supporting TLU Tennis and the student-athletes who will greatly benefit from your generosity.
