Caleb Weed named SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran freshman goalkeeper Caleb Weed (San Antonio/Warren) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Weed led the Bulldogs to two a pair of SCAC victories last week. TLU secured six points with the wins and now sits atop the conference standings through the opening weekend of league play.
 
Playing in goal the entire way in both matches, Weed collected 12 total saves and allowed just one goal in the victories against Austin College and University of Dallas.
 
In the shutout of Dallas, he made eight saves to keep the Crusaders off the scoreboard. His goals allowed average for the week was 0.50.
 
TLU heads to Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo. for Friday and Sunday matches against Johnson & Wales - Denver and Colorado College. The Bulldogs are 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the SCAC. JWU-Denver is 1-9-1 and 0-2, and Colorado College is 6-5 and 1-1.
