Fourteen Bulldog student-athletes named to SCAC Winter Academic Honor Roll

SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions in men's and women's basketball, placed 14 student-athletes from those championship squads onto the 2019 SCAC Winter Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll.
 
A total of 260 student-athletes from the SCAC made the winter list. The SCAC's winter sports include men's and women's basketball and men's and women's swimming and diving.
 
Since its inception in 1997, just over 27,000 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom by earning spots on the SCAC's Academic Honor Rolls.
 
To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
 
TLU Men's Basketball put six players onto the Honor Roll. Bulldogs on the academic awards list included: Cameron DeHart (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge), Shawn Hamilton (San Antonio/MacArthur), Nathan Josephs (San Antonio/Clark), Jacob Kouremetis (San Antonio/O'Connor), Andi Vrapcani (Kosovo/Irion County (Texas)), and Jackson Willoughby (Port Aransas/Port Aransas).
 
TLU Women's Basketball placed eight players on the Honor Roll. Bulldogs receiving the academic honor included: Olivia Balderas (San Antonio/Incarnate Word), Dominique Campos (Laredo/Alexander), Cami Davis (Marion/Marion), Abby Hroch (Port Lavaca/Calhoun), Anna Koenig (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg), Katie Pesek (Odem/Odem), Morgan Rodriguez (New Braunfels/Canyon), and Taylor Skurka (Cibolo/Steele).
 
For TLU Men's Basketball, Kouremetis was named to the Academic Honor Roll for a fourth consecutive year. Willoughby earned his third Academic Honor Roll notice, and Hamilton and Josephs each were named to the Academic Honor Roll for a second time.
 
For TLU Women's Basketball, Koenig and Pesek each earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll for a third consecutive season. Balderas, Davis and Hroch made it to the academic list for a second straight year.
 
Josephs and Hroch were the only two Bulldogs to claim an academic award and an All-Conference honor in the same year. Josephs was a First Team All-SCAC selection. Hroch was named to the Second Team All-SCAC.
 
Campos added an academic award to her SCAC Defensive Player of the Year honor, and Willoughby collects an academic honor to go with his SCAC Tournament Most Valuable Player award.
 
Campos, Hroch, Willoughby, Josephs, and Hamilton were named to the SCAC All-Tournament Teams.
 
Both TLU squads advanced to the 2019 NCAA Division III Basketball Championships after winning the conference titles.
 
The TLU Women are coached by Mel Dixon, who just completed his seventh season as head coach. The TLU Men are coach by Mike Wacker, who just completed his third season with the Bulldogs.
