TLU Men's Basketball heads west to play No. 2 Whitman in NCAA tourney

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Basketball, the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Champions, will travel to Walla Walla, Wash. for the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship. The Bulldogs will face No. 2-ranked Whitman (Wash.) on Friday in the first round.

The game time for Friday's TLU v. Whitman match-up is 7:30 p.m. pacific / 9:30 p.m. central.

All three games of the Whitman pod will be played at Whitman's Sherwood Athletic Center. Saturday's pod championship game will take place at 7 p.m. pacific / 9 p.m. central.

Whitman (26-1) is the Northwest Conference champion. The Blues received the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA post-season.

TLU and Head Coach Mike Wacker received the SCAC's automatic bid to the tournament after winning the program's fourth SCAC crown in five years.

The Bulldogs and Blues will be joined in Walla Walla by Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Pomona-Pitzer (25-2) and American Southwest Conference champion University of Texas at Dallas (24-4).

TLU won its fourth SCAC tournament crown by holding off a determined University of Dallas squad 99-95 Sunday in double overtime in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament for the fourth time in school history.
