Texas Lutheran keeps SCAC lead with road win over Dallas


IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran maintained its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference lead with a 73-62 road win Friday over the University of Dallas.

Sebastian Andrade (El Paso/Americas) scored 15 points and pulled down five rebounds, and Harris Jowell (Brock/Brock) added 14 points and four rebounds.

The Bulldogs shot 55.6 percent from the floor in the first half and opened up a 39-24 lead in the opening 20 minutes.

TLU improved to 15-7 overall and to 10-3 in the SCAC. Dallas dropped to 9-13 overall and to 6-7 in the SCAC.

Jackson Willoughby (Port Aransas/Port Aransas) scored 11 and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

TLU held Dallas to 23.5 percent from the three-point line.

Dallas never led in the game.

The Bulldogs have a half-game lead over Johnson & Wales for the regular-season title. TLU has a two-game lead over Centenary (La.) for the top seed in the upcoming SCAC Tournament, set for Seguin Feb. 22-24.

Before the tournament, TLU hosts Southwestern (on Tuesday), Austin College (on Friday), and Centenary (on Sunday) this week in Seguin.
