#RV TLU Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Ozarks (AR)

SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran Baseball split their Friday SCAC doubleheader with Ozarks (AR) dropping game one, 7-5, before winning game two 8-2 at Katt-Isbel Field on Friday.

TLU trailed 3-2 halfway through game one and was unable to complete a comeback, dropping the series opener to the Eagles, 7-5.

Kash Durkin (Liberty Hill/Liberty Hill) went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a home run for two total RBI to lead the Bulldogs offensively.

Durkin got the scoring started with a solo home run in the second before Chance Greene (Round Rock/Stony Point) scored on a passed ball in the third to give TLU a 2-0 lead.

A pair of RBI singles in the fourth inning tied the game at two before the Eagles took the lead with an RBI double in the sixth. A TLU error led to another Eagles run in the seventh before they broke the game open thanks to a bases clearing double in the eighth.

Back-to-back RBI doubles from Kash Durkin and Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen) shrunk the Eagles lead to 7-4 in the eight. The Bulldogs attempted to continue the rally in the ninth as an RBI fielder's choice plated another run but 7-5 is where the game would come to an end.

Texas Lutheran took down the Eagles 8-2 in the second game, scoring in five of eight innings they stepped in the batter's box and outhitting the Eagles 11-7 to bounce back from game one.

Kash Durkin went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run. Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays) was 2-for-3 with a walk,a double, and an RBI. Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) and Chance Greene both finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Nolan McInvale (Poth/Poth) tossed a complete game, allowing just two runs on seven hits. He struck out 11 batters and picked up third win of the season.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice by Aiden Spires (Fort Worth/Arlington Heights) in the second inning. An infield single from Durkin led to two runs scoring following a throwing error from Ozarks to increase the Bulldog lead to 3-0.

Texas Lutheran extended the lead to 6-0 over the sixth and seventh innings via RBI singles from Chase Bourgeois, Chance Greene, and Cooper Jen. Durkin delivered the final blow with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth.

Ozarks crossed two runs in the ninth to bring the game to its final score.

Texas Lutheran will look to win the series on Saturday as they take on the University of the Ozarks Eagles in the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM. The game will be streamed on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links available on tlubulldogs.com.
