Texas Lutheran bashes four home runs, including three in a row, in 16-3 victory

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran smashed four home runs, including three homers in a row, in a 16-3 home victory Tuesday night against DeSales (Pa.).

TLU improved to 9-4 overall with the victory. DeSales, out of Center Valley, Pa., fell to 4-7. The Bulldogs have won three in a row.

TLU's Tyler Cauley, Tyler Post, and Spencer Brandt hit three consecutive home runs in the second inning. Cauley hit a two-run shot, and Post and Brandt followed with solo shots.

Post added his second home run of the night with a solo blast in the sixth.

For Cauley, the home run was his fifth of 2020 and the 28th of his career. He moved within three home runs of tying John Krog for third on TLU's all-time homer list.

Cauley scored three times against DeSales. He was hit by a pitch twice, and he stole two bases.

Post was 2-for-2 with the two home runs. He drove in three and walked twice.

Brandt was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Fellow catcher Collin Docker also had two hits and two RBI.

Blake Cappadona had a two-RBI double in the seventh.

Zach Perry (1-0) picked up the win with three innings of quality relief. Perry allowed just one hit and struck out one.

TLU opens Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this Friday and Saturday with a three-game home series against St. Thomas (Texas).
