Texas Lutheran's Tyler Cauley named to second All-West Region squad

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran junior Tyler Cauley (Mont Belvieu/Barbers Hills) was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Second Team All-West Region.

Cauley, TLU's right fielder, is on an All-West Region team for the second time this year and for the fourth time in his career. Previously this year, Cauley was named to the D3baseball.com All-West Region Second Team.

Cauley was a First Team All-Region selection by both organizations in 2018, and he was a Third Team All-American on both lists a year ago as the Bulldogs finished as the 2018 national runner-up in NCAA Division III.

This year, Cauley led TLU in nearly every offensive category. He hit .329 with eight home runs, four triples, 10 doubles and 47 RBI.

Cauley was the team-leader or tied for the team lead in doubles, triples, home runs and RBI, and he led the team in stolen bases with 16. He was a perfect 16-for-16 in steal attempts.

With Cauley in the middle of the lineup, the Bulldogs posted a 31-14 overall record and a 14-4 conference mark. The Bulldogs were the regular-season co-champions of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

TLU hosted its first-ever NCAA regional tournament and played in the regional as the No. 2 seed. The Bulldogs were the SCAC Championship Tournament runner-up.
