Cross Country Set to Host Rice Invitational

HOUSTON - Rice cross country launches the start of their 2022 Fall season this Friday, Sept. 9 when they host the 46th annual Rice Invitational at the Rice Intramural Fields. The women's 4000m race begins at 6:20 p.m., followed by the men's four mile race at approximately 6:50 p.m.

Admission for Friday's 13-team meet is free, as is parking located in West Lot 4.

Following a season in which they placed second at the NCAA South Central Regional to advance to the NCAA Championships as a team, the Rice women entered the 2022 campaign receiving votes in the preseason USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll and are ranked second in the South Central Region. The women were picked to finish third in the C-USA Women's Preseason Poll.    

The Rice men placed fourth at last year's C-USA Championships and were fifth at the NCAA South Central Regional. This season they were picked to finish fourth in C-USA and are ranked 12th in the South Central Region.
