• The St. Mary's Men's and Women's Tennis teams open the 2023-24 season with the renamed Brother Al Invitational. Named for Brother Al Kuntemeier, who became team chaplain for the Rattlers in 2014, the tournament will feature teams from Our Lady of the Lake, Schreiner, Texas Lutheran, Trinity (women) and Western New Mexico in addition to the Rattlers.Â

• This is the sixth straight season the teams have hosted a fall tournament, but this is the first time they are being run concurrently.Â

• A season ago, the women's team amassed six singles and two doubles titles, while the men's team won two singles titles in a tournament that was shortened due to lightning.

• Friday's action will begin at 8 a.m. at the Northside Tennis Center (12045 Leslie Road, Helotes, TX 78023). Any doubles matches not started by 2:30 p.m. will be moved to the Rohrbach Tennis Stadium on the campus of St. Mary's. Action on Saturday and Sunday will all be at StMU.

• The Rattler men return nine letterwinners off last season's team and add freshmen
Marcelo Benavides, and
Louis Hein and redshirt freshman transfer
Leonardo Fabbri from Eastern Kentucky. The women's squad returns seven letterwinners and adds transfers
