Bulldogs place 43 student-athletes on 2019 SCAC Fall Academic Honor Roll
SEGUIN, Texas – Texas Lutheran University placed 43 student-athletes on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Student-Athlete Fall Academic Honor Roll, the conference office announced Thursday.
A total of 458 student-athletes from SCAC-member institutions made the list.
To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the 2019 fall term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
TLU Women’s Volleyball and Women’s Soccer each placed 13 student-athletes on the Fall Academic Honor Roll.
TLU Men’s Soccer, the SCAC Champion and an NCAA Division III Championship qualifier, put 11 student-athletes on the Honor Roll.
TLU Women’s Cross Country had four honorees, and TLU Men’s Cross Country had two.
Women’s Volleyball senior Bryten Mitchan and Women’s Cross Country senior Ashley Rynard claimed their fourth consecutive SCAC Academic Honor Roll awards.
Academic All-Americans Mitchell Long (Men’s Soccer) and Kelly Jurden (Women’s Volleyball) were named to the Fall Academic Honor Roll for the third consecutive year. (Jurden is a two-sport stand-out for the Bulldogs. She claimed her Academic All-America award for softball in 2019.)
Women’s Volleyball players Hannah Roalson and Cailey Young and Women’s Soccer player Raquel Morris also added their third consecutive Fall Academic Honor Roll awards.
TLU had three SCAC All-Conference honorees from 2019 that also picked up Academic Honor Roll recognition this year. SCAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Year Luis Green was named to the Academic Honor Roll, and fellow SCAC First Team selection in Men’s Soccer, Lalo Lopez-Rivera, joined Green on the academic list.
SCAC Women’s Cross Country All-Conference member Kylee Garcia also made the Academic Honor Roll.
Since its inception in the fall of 1997, over 28,000 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom.
