Cross Country Closes Out Season at NCAA West Regionals

RIVERSIDE, CA -- Texas Lutheran men's and women's cross country closed out its season at the 2023 NCAA Division-III West Regionals Saturday morning at the Riverside City Cross Country Course in Riverside, California. Texas Lutheran traveled eleven runners to the regional, seven women and four men, and would finish in a tie for 23rd in the women's 6K and would not qualify for a team score in the men's 8K.

Freshman Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) paced TLU for the seventh straight meet, finishing 83rd overall at 24:50.1 in the women's 6K. Junior Gianna Kennedy (El Paso/El Paso) followed Combs at 119th, crossing the finish line at 26:00.7. Sophomore Emma Etzler (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) took 132nd at 26:22.8 while Aaliyah Leal (Ingleside/Aransas Pass) earned 144th at 27:19.9 and Cristina Jaramillo (Port Lavaca/Calhoun) finished 157th at 28:22.4.

Sophomore Lucas Falcon (Victoria/Victoria East) paced the Bulldogs in the 8K, earning 121st overall at 27:29.4. Wesley Holub (Wallis/Brazos) took 143rd at 28:26.8 while Nathan Sandelovic (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) finished 156th at 29:14.3. Gabriel Ceballos (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) followed close behind (158th/29:37.8) to round out the men in the 8K.
