Mackenize Combs Nabs Top 15 Finish to Lead TLU in ACU Naidmadu Classic

Results

ABILENE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's and women's cross country took on the ACU Naimadu Classic hosted by Abilene Christian in Abilene, Texas on Friday night in their final meet before the 2023 SCAC Championship meet in Seguin. The field hosted ACU, Oral Roberts, Southwestern, Ranger College (M), North Central Texas College, Dallas (M), and Texas Lutheran.

WOMEN'S RECAP

In the women's meet, it was Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) leading the way finishing 15th in a field of 50 runners who finished the race and first amongst Division-III runners with a time of 24:10.62 in the 6K. Gianna Kennedy (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) followed Combs, finishing 26th with a time of 25:06.78. Following Kennedy was Emma Etzler (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) posting a time of 25:36.0.

Aaliyah Leal (Ingleside/Aransas Pass) and Isabella Schaar (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) rounded out the top five for the Bulldogs. As a team, the Bulldogs finished fifth overall. 

MEN'S RECAP

Junior Carlos Cura (Rankin/Rankin) led the Bulldogs in the 8K race with a time of 27:26.72 to finish 26th overall and sixth amongst Division-III runners. Lucas Falcon (Victoria/Victoria East) tallied a 29th place finish in a field of 59 runners - seventh amongst Division-III - with a time of 27:46.5. Nathan Sandelovic (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) crossed right behind Falcon with a time of 28:02.37 to finish 30th - eighth amongst Division-III runners. The time is a PR for Sandelovic and places him 13th on TLU's all-time list in the 8K.

Wesley Holub (Wallis/Brazos) and Gabriels Ceballos (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) rounded out the top five for the Bulldogs. As a team, the Bulldogs finished sixth.
