Combs Lands on All-Time List at OLLU Classic

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran cross country program competed in the OLLU Saints Classic Saturday morning in San Antonio with the women finishing fourth with 80 points and the men finishing fifth with 116 points.

Freshman Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) led the Bulldogs with an eighth place finish in 23:55.1, followed by Gianna Kennedy (El Paso/El Paso) in 15th with a time of 24:35.6. With Combs' performance, she moves into the 8th spot on the TLU All-Time Performance List in her 6K debut.

Following them were Emma Etzler (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) in 18th (24:43.7), Aaliyah Leal (Ingleside/Aransas Pass) in 25th (26:45.4), and Isabella Schaar (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) in 26th (26:58.1) in the 6K.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs were led by a 15th place finish from Carlos Cura (Rankin/Rankin) in 26:37.2. Lucas Falcon (Victoria/Victoria East) followed Cura in 20th place with a time of 26:56.1, a personal record time that moves him into fifth-place in the TLU Men's Cross Country All-Time Performance list in the 8K. 

Falcon was followed by Nathan Sandelovic (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) in 42nd (28:23.1), Wesley Holub (Wallis/Brazos) in 46th (28:33.4), Gabriel Ceballos (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) in 55th (30:05.4), and Jude Siefkas (Tomball/Klein Cain) would cap the scorers for TLU with a time of 33:29.8 to finish 58th.

Texas Lutheran travels to Abilene to compete in the ACU Naimadu Classic hosted by Abilene Christian on Oct. 13th for one final tuneup ahead of the 2023 SCAC Championships later this month that will be hosted by the Bulldogs at Irma Lewis Seguin Outdoor Learning Center in Seguin.
