TLU Women sixth at Concordia Cross Country Classic; TLU Men run small squad

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Cross Country finished sixth out of 11 teams Friday evening at the Concordia University Texas Cross Country Classic at Old Settlers Park.
 
TLU Men's Cross Country sent only two men's runners to the event and did not figure into the team standings.
 
Senior Kylee Garcia took 12th overall in the women's race in a field of 96 runners. Garcia crossed the line for the 4K race in 24 minutes, 47.30 seconds.
 
TLU placed ahead of host school Concordia Texas, Texas A&M-Kingsville, LeTourneau, Angelo State and St. Thomas (Texas). The Bulldogs trailed University of Texas, St. Edward's, Hardin-Simmons, Texas A&M International and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
 
Senior runner Ashley Runner came home in 37th with a time of 27:57.10, and sophomore Hannah Martinez was 54th in 29:35.80.
 
First-year collegiate athletes Julia Maciel and Gabrielle Gonzales rounded out the Bulldogs' scoring five with placements of 59th and 60th, respectively, and times of 29:53.80 and 29:55.30.
 
Mackenzie Payne and Jackie Garcia recorded finishes of 67th and 68th, respectively, with times of 30:25.30 and 30:43.20.
 
Juan Moreno and Koby Green competed for TLU Men's Cross Country at the meet. Moreno completed the 8K course in 32:32.50, and Green crossed the line in 35:32.80.
 
Moreno was 57th out of 90 runners, and Green was 78th.
 
TLU next races in the Disney Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Flor. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
