Five Bulldogs Earn All-SCAC Recognition

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran volleyball setter/outside hitter Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) and outside hitter Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) were named to the All-SCAC First Team in a vote by the league's head coaches and sports information directors released on Wednesday. Libero Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville), middle blocker Keriann Kallus (New Braunfels/New Braunfels), and outside hitter Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) were selected to the All-SCAC Second Team.

Respondek, a junior from San Antonio, earns her first career first team accolade and third All-SCAC honor of her career. Respondek led the Bulldogs in assists (552) and was second in service aces (35) and digs (501) in the regular season. Respondek ranked eighth nationally with four triple-doubles in 2023. Respondek was a member of the All-SCAC Second Team last season. Respondek was named to two All-Tournament teams in 2023 and was SCAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18 this season.

Moehrig, a senior from Spring Branch, Texas, earned her second career All-SCAC honor and first career All-SCAC First Team accolade. Moehrig led the Bulldogs in kills during the regular season with 265 (2.50 kills/set) and had a .175 hitting percentage. A six-rotation outside hitter, Moehrig ranked sixth on the team in digs with 167 digs (1.58 digs/set) and third with 29 blocks. Moehrig ranks in the top ten in the SCAC in kills and kills per set while ranking fourth in total attacks (976).

Coldewey, a junior from Floresville, Texas, was named to the All-SCAC Second Team after ranking among the nation's leaders in digs. She finished the regular season at tenth in the nation and third in the SCAC with 583 digs (5.50 digs per set). Coldewey also had 138 assists and a team-high 36 service aces, ranking eighth in the SCAC. Coldewey led a TLU defense that's first in NCAA Division-III in Total digs (2300) and digs per set (21.70).

Kallus, a senior from New Braunfels, was named to the All-SCAC Second Team as one of the SCAC's best blockers. Kallus ranked sixth in the SCAC in solo blocks with six and seventh in hitting percentage at .274 on the season. Kallus led the Bulldogs with a career-high 60 blocks and ranked third on the team with 28 service aces.

Nedd, a junior from Sealy, Texas, earns her first career All-SCAC honor - ranking second on the Bulldogs with 232 kills in the regular season.

Since joining the SCAC in 2013, Texas Lutheran has earned 24 All-SCAC selections. The five selections matches last season for the most All-SCAC selections in a single season. The All-SCAC teams can be viewed in full here.

Texas Lutheran begins play in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Friday, Nov. 10, in Georgetown, Texas. TLU, the No. 2 seed, will face the winner of No. 3 Colorado College and No. 6 Southwestern at 6 PM on the campus of Southwestern University.
