Powell Tabbed Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball's Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's (SCAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday evening.

The Richmond, Texas, native helped Texas Lutheran to a 4-0 week, tallying 12 total blocks, including five against Dallas - matching her career-high. Powell averaged 0.92 blocks per set and added four digs. The 0.92 blocks per set from the freshman is well above her season average of 0.58 blocks per set. She and the rest of the Bulldogs defense held opponents to a .071 hitting percentage across their four conference wins. The freshman middle blocker secured 28.5 points (2.19/set) over the course of the four matches. Powell played a crucial role in securing the Bulldogs first win over Southwestern since 2019 and their first undefeated home season since 2004.

This is Powell's first career SCAC weekly honor and the first defensive player of the week for a non-libero for TLU since Madison Weisinger in the Spring 2021 season.

The Bulldogs will close out the regular season at St. Thomas on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
