TLU Volleyball sweeps Schreiner

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball swept Schreiner, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23, Saturday morning at Reid Arena on the campus of Colorado College.

The Bulldogs improved their record to 7-6 with their fifth sweep of the season to stay above .500 and gained their first conference win of the season to close the weekend.

Tanyse Moehrig-Woodard (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) led the Bulldogs with 11 kills, while hitting .320 in the match. She also led the Bulldogs in points - adding one dig. Maddy Schultz (Richmond/Needville) finished with 10 kills and one block.

Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) had a great match, making an impact in several aspects. She finished with 7 kills, 4 digs, 2 service aces, and a block. Kacie Hall (Buda/Hays) added 5 kills, 5 digs, 2 assists, and 2 blocks while Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) had  6 kills, 2 blocks, and a dig.

Adrienne Galaviz (San Antonio/Harlandale) dished out 20 assists and finished with 6 assists. Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) led the Bulldogs with 22 digs and added 2 assists and 2 service aces while Paige Day (San Antonio/Reagan) added 13 digs, 5 kills, and 1 service ace.

After losing the first point, the Bulldogs jumped out to as much as a 17-5 lead in the first set before winning the first set over the Mountaineers 25-18.

The Bulldogs gained a 3-0 advantage to start the second set before the Mountaineers finally closed the gap to make it 6-6 later in the set. The Bulldogs would pull away - getting as much as a 6-point lead - to win the second set.

The third set went back and forth as the Bulldogs trailed in a few instances before pulling away to win 5 of the last 7 points to close the match and complete the sweep.

Texas Lutheran is back in action on Wednesday as they hit the road to visit Huston-Tillotson at 7PM.
