Bulldog Volleyball drops four-setter to No. 2 Colorado College


IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball fell in four games to No.2-ranked Colorado College in the final day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Crossover Tournament hosted by University of Dallas.

With the loss, TLU dropped to 5-15 overall and to 2-5 in the SCAC. CC improved to 17-1 overall and to 6-1 in conference play. 

It looked like the Bulldogs had an upset on their mind at the start of its battle against the Tigers. The Bulldogs came out firing, winning the first set before dropping the next three in the 24-26, 26-24, 25-6, 25-14 loss.

As a team, the Bulldogs were held to .057 hitting. On the other hand, Colorado hit .266, the second-highest percentage an opponent has hit against the Bulldogs all year.

Sophomore Cailey Young (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) led TLU with 11 kills against the Tigers. She hit a .152 for the day. 

The Bulldogs blocked well against the Tigers, finishing with seven total block. Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) led the team with ffour blocks. She also added four kills.

Jaci Chambers (Baytown/Goose Creek Memorial) recorded 21 digs, four assists, and two service aces for the Bulldogs. Remy Corbin (Austin/Westwood) also tallied a pair of serving aces to go along with her seven digs and two kills. 

Sophomore setter Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) dished out 25 assists. She added nine digs, three kills and an ace for good measure. 

Texas Lutheran will continue conference play on the road next Thursday as they travel to San Antonio, Texas. The Bulldogs match up against No. 13-ranked Trinity University at 7 p.m. in the Tigers' Calgaard Gymnasium.
