Bulldogs Compete in Texas State Bobcat Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Texas Lutheran track and field competed in the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State over the course of three days in San Marcos in a meet heavily populated with Division-I and professional athletes.

The Texas Lutheran 4x100m relay team comprised of Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport), Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen), Leilani Lopez (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic), and Trinity Murdock (Katy/Paetow) finished first amongst Division-III teams with a time of 48.83 seconds. Meanwhile, the TLU 4x400m relay team comprised of Kamilah Tanner (Killeen/Robert M. Shoemaker), Natalie GarciaJa'Keia Williams (La Grange/La Grange), and Katie Kostelnik (Hallettsville/Sacred Heart Catholic) finished third amongst Division-III teams with a time 4:07.48.

Gianna Kennedy (El Paso/El Paso) finished 12th, third amongst Division-III runners, in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:27.90.

Kenna Kubenka (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) finished first amongst Division-III throwers and 22nd overall in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 41.55m (136' 4"). Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park) finished 12th in her section in the javelin throw, second amongst Division-III throwers, with a mark of 32.81m (107' 08"). Emagen Styra (Nordheim/Nordheim) finished third amongst Division-III throwers and 23rd overall with an 11.05m (36' 3") mark in the shot put.
