Two wins, top-four NCAA performance, personal bests for Bulldogs over weekend

SEGUIN, Texas – Following a weekend of performances in California and in Houston, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs Women's and Men's Track & Field teams came away with two overall victories, one top-four NCAA Division III time, and three personal-bests.
 
Tia Hart (Edna/Industrial) and Garrett Garza (Round Rock/Stony Point) each won individual titles at the Rice University Duckett Twilight.
 
Hart won the women's javelin competition with a toss of 131 feet, 4 inches, and Garza won the men's shot put with a heave of 56-3.25.
 
Ashley Rynard (Temple/Temple) posted the fourth-fastest time in the NCAA Division III in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 11.57 seconds at the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday.
 
Ashley Myers (Ingleside/Edna) took third at the Cal State LA Twilight Open with a time of 25.54 in the 200. She was eighth in the 100 with a time of 12.62.
 
At the Long Beach State Invitational on Saturday, Myers improved on both of her times, racing to a 12.46 in the 100 and to a 25.52 in the 200.
 
At Rice, Dejah Carr (Houston/Channelview) placed third in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 142-2 – a new personal best for Carr.
 
Jacob Guercia (Forney/Forney) and Jalen Starks (San Antonio/Antonian) also collected personal bests with performances in the javelin. Guercia placed ninth at Rice with a throw of 154-00. Starks took 15th with a toss of 137-04.
 
The Bulldogs compete this weekend at the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at Trinity University in San Antonio.
