Cortnee Priour concludes outstanding track & field career at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio -- Cortnee Priour (Victoria/Goliad) concluded her decorated track & field career with a 22nd-place finish in the triple jump at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Priour was the lone TLU Women's Track & Field student-athlete in action on Saturday. She recorded a leap of 10.96 meters (35 feet, 11.50 inches) in the national competition and did not advance past the first three jumps.

Priour, a May honors graduate of TLU, was a 2018 outdoor All-American in the long jump. She was TLU's 2019 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

TLU's Darren Jones (Waller/Waller) secured his third career All-American honor with an eighth-place finish Saturday in the 200-meter dash at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

In a race in which the top eight finishers were separated by .59 of a second, Jones cross the line in 21.48 seconds.

Corey Carter, a sophomore from Principia (Ill.), won the national title with a time of 20.89. Jacob Ridenhour, a sophomore from Webster (Mo.), took second in 21.07.

The top eight finishers in the nine-person championship final receive All-America honors.

Jones, a junior, now has two Outdoor Track & Field All-America citations (in the 200 and last year's 4x100 relay) to go with his Indoor All-America honor this year in the 60-meter dash.

The 2019 TLU Male Student-Athlete of the Year, Jones ran in three events at the 2019 national championships. He qualified with his teammates in the 4x100 relay, and he raced individually in the 100 and the 200.
