Kerwin Johnson made a historic run in his first season as head coach of the TLU Women's Soccer program.

Johnson was hired in December 2021 as the sixth head coach in TLU women's soccer history and promptly guided the Bulldogs  - a team picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll -  to an 11-8-2 record, going 11-3 in the SCAC to claim second place in the conference in the regular season and in the 2022 SCAC Tournament. The 11 conference wins from the 2022 team set a new program record for most conference wins - surpassing the previous record of 10 which was met in 2004 and 2006 while members of the American Southwest Conference. Johnson's 11 wins are the most for a first-year head coach in program history. Johnson coached the 2022 SCAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year Alyssa Simien as well as four additional All-SCAC honorees.

Johnson arrived in Seguin after spending three years with San Antonio City Soccer Club. During his tenure with SA City Soccer Club, Johnson served as the Director of the Girl's Senior Program/College Coordinator from February 2018 to August 2020 and the Girls Academy (GA) Director, from September 2020 to December 2021. Kerwin was responsible for recruiting and developing quality student-athletes of all ages. His professional experience and leadership skills has allowed him to mentor and inspire student-athletes of all cultures and diversities.

Prior to SA City Soccer Club, Johnson served as an assistant at his alma mater, University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), where he was part of the staff that helped usher UIW in to Division-I athletics. As a member of the Cardinals staff, Johnson was very valuable in the recruiting process due to his club connections and responsible for the recruiting classes that made UIW a winning program.

Johnson was part of the Lonestar Soccer Club San Antonio, Texas, where he served as Director of Senior Girls from 2008 to 2014. He trained and developed athletes to join the U.S. National Team (U17 program), led multiple teams to State and Regional Championships. Coach Johnson mentored over 300 athletes into the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Over his lifetime commitments in the soccer industry he committed hundreds of student athletes to academic and athletic scholarships.

Johnson was a standout student-athlete during his time at University of Incarnate Word from 1993-1996. He is recognized as UIW's all-time leading goal scorer, a two-time All-American, a two-time Heart of Texas Conference MVP, and a three-time all-conference selection. Johnson participated in the Umbro All-Star College Game and was part of the 1st inaugural class to be inducted into the UIW Hall of Fame. He scored at least 16 goals in each of his four seasons at UIW and he had the two most prolific scoring seasons in school history when he had 33 goals and 19 assists in 1995 and 33 goals and 10 assists in 1996.

Following graduation from UIW in 1997, Johnson had the experience of playing professional soccer in the MLS for the Tampa Bay Mutiny, Dallas Burn, and Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany and also played for the US Men's National “B” Team. Prior to joining Lonestar SC, Johnson coached for the Hammer's soccer club from 2000-2004, Austin United Capitals SC from 2004-2008, and was a member of the Olympic Development Program Staff from 2006-2009.

A native of San Antonio, Johnson and his wife, Christine, reside in Cibolo with their two children, Jonah and Londyn.
