Texas Lutheran's Summer Swift garners fifth career SCAC Women's Golfer of the Week award

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran's Summer Swift, a senior from Fentress, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the fifth time in her career.

Swift's latest honor comes after she finished as the 2019 TLU Lady Bulldog Fall Classic runner-up after 18 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

Swift forced a two-person playoff at the Lady Bulldog and ultimately finished second after a scorecard playoff Tuesday.

Swift and Karen Alvarez of the University of Texas at Dallas each finished 36 holes of golf with a total of 150. After both players parred the first playoff hole, play was suspended due to lightning in the area. With the suspension of play, the tournament was decided via the scorecard tiebreaker.

Swift led the field in Par 4 scoring (4.20), playing those holes in four over par. She was also 2-under on the par 5s.

Swift and the Bulldogs head to New Mexico for Sunday and Monday action in the McMurry Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will be played at Rockwind Links in Hobbs, N.M.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior Emily Campbell of Southwestern fired rounds of 77 and 75 for a two-day total of 152 (+8) to finish third at the TLU Lady Bulldog Classic. Campbell's 75 was the low round of the tourney on Tuesday. Sophomore Delaney Kelley of Trinity was the Tigers' top finisher and stood alone in seventh place. She carded a second-round 79 for a 154 total, just four strokes behind the leaders. First-year Kaylei Richardson of Dallas improved her second round by 15 shots, firing an 83 on Tuesday, to lead the Crusader women's program in its first-ever tournament appearance as an SCAC institution.
