Defending champ Swift in fourth with round to play at SCAC Championships
BLANCO, Texas -- Defending conference champion Summer Swift (Fentress/San Marcos) of Texas Lutheran sits in fourth place after round one of the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship.
Swift, a junior, carded an 81 Monday to lead Texas Lutheran to a team score of 363. The Bulldogs hold fourth place in the team standings.
With a round to play at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Swift is five shots out of the lead held by Emily Campbell of Southwestern. Campbell shot a 76.
Southwestern posted a team score of 315 on Monday. The Pirates have a 22-shot lead over Trinity (337) entering Tuesday's final 18 holes.
Southwestern and Trinity are followed in the team standings by Schreiner (353), TLU (363), Centenary (411), and Johnson & Wales-Denver (600).
With Swift's 81, the Bulldogs also received a 92 from Kristen Cox (Utopia/Utopia), a 92 from Kaley Martin (Cypress/Cypress Woods), a 98 from Halie Lewis (Schulenburg/Schulenburg), and a 104 from Kristen Laird (Seguin/Seguin).
The final round begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday from Vaaler Creek.
