Bulldogs Prevail Over Colorado College to Secure Series Sweep

SEGUIN, Texas -- In yet another thrilling showdown, Texas Lutheran secured a 59-51 victory against Colorado College at Memorial Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.

The win marks the third straight over the Tigers and secures a regular season series sweep over the Tigers.

Sophomore guard Angelina Sotelo (San Marcos/San Marcos) had a career day, scoring a career-high 18 points including a career-high five threes on seven attempts. Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) added nine points and dishing out three assists. Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds in addition to eight points.

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, starting the game on a 7-0 run and carrying a 16-7 lead into the second quarter. Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) led the Bulldogs through the first quarter scoring five of her nine points in the opening period.

The early lead proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs would earn their eighth wire-to-wire victory of the season Sunday, never trailing and only allowing a sole tie in the second quarter. Colorado College would outscore the Bulldogs 12-10 in the second period before TLU would restore their nine point lead entering the fourth quarter; outscoring the Tigers 17-15 in the third quarter. Sotelo would heat up in the third quarter scoring nine points in the quarter.

Sansano would act as the closer for the Bulldogs, helping put away the Tigers with nine fourth quarter points. TLU would lead by as many as 13 points in the fourth before securing their 59-51 victory.

Texas Lutheran hits the road for its next two games, beginning its final road trip of the 2024 regular season with a Friday night matchup against Austin College on Feb. 2. Tip-off is set for 8 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
