Texas Lutheran Falls to Trinity, 70-59

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's basketball fell short against the rival Trinity Tigers Saturday night at Calgaard Gymnasium, falling 70-59.

Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) led TLU (13-5, 6-3 SCAC) with 19 points and ten rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) was the only other Bulldog in double figures, finishing with 10 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

The Bulldogs would struggle early as the Tigers would hold Texas Lutheran to just five points in the first quarter, but a nine point second quarter from Mulkey aided the Bulldogs in shrinking the Tiger lead to 24-19 entering halftime.

Trinity would lead from wire-to-wire Saturday night - leading by as many as 13 points. The Bulldogs would shrink the Tigers lead to as low as four points with two minutes remaining but the Tigers would close Saturday night's contest on a 9-2 run to put the game away.

Texas Lutheran concludes its five-game game conference road trip on Tuesday, Jan. 23, with their first matchup with the Southwestern Pirates of the 2023-24 season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM in Georgetown. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
