Texas Lutheran Drops Road Contest at UIW

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's basketball team dropped its road contest at Division-I opponent, Incarnate Word, Wednesday afternoon in San Antonio, falling 70-36 at the McDermott Center.

Irianna Rollins (Pflugerville/Connally) led TLU (8-3) in scoring with a career-high eight points. Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) topped the Bulldogs with a season-high eight rebounds.

Texas Lutheran could not find their shooting touch against their Division-I foes, shooting at a 24.6% clip for the game and 3-of-18 from behind the arc. Defensively, the Bulldogs forced 12 Cardinals turnovers.

Incarnate Word opened with the first eight points of the game, before the Bulldogs finally got on the board after a Kailey Lacy (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) mid-range jumper. The Bulldogs were limited to nine points in the first half, trailing 35-9 at halftime.

Texas Lutheran continued to fight - managing double digits in both the third and fourth quarters as the entire roster saw playing time against the Cardinals. Rollins would score six points in the fourth quarter, matching her previous career-high in the fourth alone.

Texas Lutheran will play the second half of their final back-to-back ahead of the Christmas break as they return to Memorial Gymnasium for a non-conference matchup against the Sul Ross State Lobos tomorrow, Dec. 21. Tip-off is set for 1 PM at Memorial Gymnasium and will be streamed on TLU+.
