TLU completes season sweep of JWU-Denver with 66-46 win in Memorial Gymnasium

SEGUIN, Texas -- Kasey Hairell scored 15 and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 66-46 home victory Friday night in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium.
 
TLU moved to 10-14 overall and to 8-9 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
The Bulldogs also moved Head Coach Mel Dixon within one victory of tying former head coach Lana Urbanek for the most women's basketball coaching wins at TLU.
 
Urbanek retired with 121. Dixon's victory on Friday night was his 120th.
 
JWU-Denver's road loss dropped the Wildcats to 4-18 overall and to 4-13 in the SCAC.
 
Hairell hit six of her 11 shots against JWU-Denver, and four of her six rebounds came on the offensive glass.
 
Abby Hroch and Dominique Campos each scored 12, and Tara Molina recorded seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals.
 
TLU forced 26 JWU-Denver turnovers. The Wildcats shots 33 percent from the field and 15 percent from the three-point line (3-for-20).
 
With a game to play in the SCAC regular-season, the Bulldogs sit in the No. 5-seed position for the upcoming SCAC post-season tournament.
 
TLU has a one-game lead over Southwestern for the fifth seed. 

The Bulldogs host Colorado College at 6 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Gymnasium. It will be Senior Day for the Bulldogs.
