Hardin-Simmons uses third-quarter run to hand Texas Lutheran 75-53 loss

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls used a 29-9 third-quarter run to move past the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs 75-53 Saturday evening in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium.
 
HSU improved to 5-1 with the non-conference victory. TLU dropped to 0-5.
 
Taylor Gaffney scored 16 for the Cowgirls, and Parris Parmer added 13 points and nine rebounds.
 
The Cowgirls shot 61.1 percent from the floor in the third quarter and made three of their five three-point shots in the 10-minute span.
 
HSU stretched a 29-27 halftime lead to 58-36 at the start of the fourth quarter.
 
TLU shot 4-of-14 in the third quarter and went 1-for-5 from the arc in the period.
 
For the game, TLU was held to 32.8 percent shooting and to 5-for-21 from the three-point line.
 
Tara Moline scored 12 points for the Bulldogs. Morgan Rodriguez added nine points and six rebounds.
 
TLU's next contest is a 6:30 p.m. home game on Dec. 3 against Concordia Texas.
