Bio

Olivia Van Hook enters her fourth season as Texas Lutheran's assistant softball coach. Her primary responsibilities are focused on working with TLU's outfielders and the Bulldogs defense. Van Hook also serves as the TLU facilities director.

During her tenure, the Bulldogs have won two SCAC regular season titles and two SCAC tournament crowns (the 2020 season was not finished due to COVID-19) while making two appearances in the Division-III National Championship - winning the national championship in 2019. The national championship was TLU's first team championship as a member of the NCAA Division III. The national title was TLU's first since a women's volleyball national championship in the AIAW-II in 1976.

Under Van Hook's leadership, the Bulldogs have maintained a .968 fielding percentage - leading the SCAC in both full seasons under her leadership.

Van Hook, has been a member of a Bulldogs' coaching staffs that have been named 2021 NFCA West Region Coaching Staff of the Year as well as receiving NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year for NCAA Division III and NFCA West Region Coaching Staff honors in 2019.

Van Hook was a graduate assistant for St. Mary’s University in 2017-2018. She assisted with the outfielders. She was also a volunteer assistant at Texas State University in 2018 prior to coming to TLU.

Van Hook was a collegiate softball player at St. Mary's in San Antonio, where she was a two-year starter, as well as Temple College.  Prior to her time at St. Mary's, Van Hook was a two-year starter for the Leopards of Temple College - earning all-conference and all-region honors at in 2015 and advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament.

A native of Brenham, Texas, Van Hook earned her bachelor's degree from St. Mary’s University in Exercise and Sports Science in 2017 and recently earned her master's in educational leadership in 2021. She also has an associate's degree in Physical Education from Temple College.

Coach Van Hook’s father, Kyle, is currently a professional baseball scout for the Minnesota Twins. Her older brother, Clay, is an assistant baseball coach at Oklahoma University.
