The 2023-24 season will be the fourth season for Scott Smith as an assistant for Texas Lutheran Softball. His primary resposibility is working with the Bulldogs offense.

During Smith's tenure, the Bulldogs have won three SCAC regular season titles and two SCAC Tournament crowns while making consecutive Women's College World Series appearances. Smith has been on two NFCA West Region Coaching Staffs of the Year.

Under Smith's guidance, the 2022 Bulldogs picked up where the 2021 team left off, racing to a program record 45-6 season.

In his first season, the Bulldogs won their seventh consecutive SCAC Championship and advanced to the 2021 NCAA Division-III National Championship Finals - finishing as the National Runner-Up. Smith was a member of a 2021 TLU softball coaching staff that was named 2021 NFCA West Region Coaching Staff of the Year.

Under Smith's leadership, TLU ranked in the Top 25 nationally for: batting average (21st), hit by pitch (3rd), total hits (21st), home runs (21st), on-base percentage (4th), scoring (17th), slugging percentage (20th), sacrifice flies (2nd), and walks (3rd).

Two-position players, Kelly Jurden and Rebecca Snow, earned NFCA First Team All-American honors. Jurden was also named SCAC Player of the Year.

Smith is the National Program Director and Head Coach for the Texas Bombers Club Program. He has coached with the Bombers for 20 years and most recently his Texas Bombers team under his guidance won the USA Softball 16U National Championship in 2016. That same year Smith’s coaching staff was selected as the NFCA National Travel Ball Coaching Staff of the Year.

Smith surpassed the 1000 win mark in 2016 and was honored at the Easton Victory Club awards ceremony for reaching that milestone. The Bombers are one of the largest and most successful travel programs in the country, ranking in the Top 10 in the country year after year.

In 2017, Smith was named the general manager of the Texas Charge of National Pro Fastpitch. His involvement in pro fastpitch saw him also perform the duties of assistant coach for both the Charge and the Scrap Yard Dawgs. Smith is also involved with Team USA Softball as a coach and member of the selection committee.

Prior to joining professional softball, he served in the United States Army for 28 years. He retired as a 1SG in November of 2016. His love for his country and those who honor it are a top priority for him. Scott started the 4 The Heroes Foundation in 2014. The foundation honors fallen military heroes by utilizing uniform jerseys to place the name of a fallen warrior on the back of the jersey. The jersey is worn all year long and then given to the family once the season is completed. The 4 The Heroes foundation also has its Woods & Water Program that takes military veterans on hunting and fishing trips.

Scott attended American Military University, US Army 1SG Course, and many other leaderships schools during his tenure in the military.

He and his wife, Irma, reside in New Braunfels, Texas. Scott has two children, Jade and Gunnar, as well as a new granddaughter, Sloane.
