Texas Lutheran Cross Country Announces 2023 Slate

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Bulldog cross country teams prepare for their return to the course after qualifying three runners, including junior Carlos Cura (Rankin/Rankin) for the NCAA West Regional in 2022 as first-year head coach Bri Ratliff announced the 2023 slate on Friday.

Texas Lutheran will host the 2023 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships in Seguin for the first time since 2017.

"I am very excited to kick off my first season with the Bulldogs this fall," said Ratliff. "I can't wait to see the team come together as we work hard to achieve our goals. We will have some great competition at these meets and this season should be a lot of fun."

The Bulldogs will open the season Sept. 1 at the Pirate Opener hosted by Southwestern University before traveling to Houston to compete in the Rice Invitational on Sept. 8.

The Bulldogs will stay closer to home for a dual meet with Trinity (Sept. 22) and the OLLU Classic (Oct. 7) before hitting the road for the ACU Naimadu Classic hosted by Abilene Christian in preparation for the 2023 SCAC Championships on Oct. 28.

The last time the Bulldogs hosted the SCAC Championships both men's and women's cross country finished third - matching both squads highest finishes in the SCAC Championship meet since joining the conference in 2013. The 2022 women's cross country squad matched the third place finish in 2022's championship race, marking the fourth time TLU has found themselves in the top three.

The NCAA West Regional is set for Nov. 11 in Riverside, California, with the NCAA Championships set to follow Nov. 18 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
