TLU Men's Cross Country ninth at SCAC Championships in Colorado

WIDEFIELD, Colo. -- Texas Lutheran Women's Cross Country took fourth place out of seven teams competing at the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Widick Field.

The Bulldog men finished ninth out of the nine teams competing.
 
TLU senior Kylee Garcia earned SCAC All-Conference honors with her 13th-place finish. Garcia crossed the finish line on the 6K course with a time of 24 minutes, 36.1 seconds.
 
Ashley Rynard came home in 31st with a time of 26:41.1, and Gabrielle Gonzales was 34th with a time of 27:28.9.
 
Julia Maciel, Jackie Garcia, Mackenzie Payne, and Jocee Bennett finished in 39th, 41st, 44th, and 48th, respectively.
 
The TLU Women scored 116 points in the conference championship. Colorado College, the host of the championships, won the women's title with 30 points. Trinity was second, with 43.  Dallas was third, with 103.
 
TLU, Southwestern (132), St. Thomas (150), and Johnson & Wales - Denver (165) rounded out the field.
 
The TLU Men scored 216 points in the nine-team race for the conference title. Colorado College won the men's team title with a score of 21. Trinity and Austin College were second and third, respectively, with 51 and 102 points.
 
Johnson & Wales - Denver (107), St. Thomas (119), Southwestern (182), Dallas (198), Schreiner (199), and TLU rounded out the field.
 
Juan Moreno led TLU in the 8K championship race with a 46th-place finish and a time of 30:49.4. Koby Green was 47th overall in 30:54.6, and Christopher Torres took 53rd in 31:21.4.
 
Hector Hornedo (56th), Israel Olivarez (61st), and Johari Dramiga (63rd) completed the Bulldogs' lineup.
 
TLU squads next race at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championships on Nov. 9 at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
