SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran track and field freshman Braylen Brown has been named the 2025 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Track and Field Newcomer of the Year, the conference announced Thursday.
Brown, a freshman from Converse, Texas, is the Bulldogs' first men's SCAC Newcomer of the Year since Scottie Reyes in 2021. It is the fifth time a Bulldog has been named the men's SCAC Newcomer of the Year in league history.
In his freshman campaign, Brown placed 16th overall at the Division-III Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 48.99 seconds to earn USTFCCCA Second Team All-America status. Brown was a member of the "Freshman Four" 4x400m relay team that won the 4x400m relay with a new SCAC record time of 3:14.68. Brown continued to make his breakout performance by adding another SCAC record breaking performance in the 400m dash with a winning time of 47.24 seconds that secured his spot in the 2025 NCAA Championships.
